Spiritual Paintings. The Art of Spiritual Harmony.
Spiritual Paintings
Famous Russian artist and art theorist, Wassilly
Kadinsky, opened with these words somewhat verbose publication,
The Art of Spiritual Harmony : "Every work of art is the
child of its age, and in many cases the mother of our
emotions.". He follows with the statement,"...each
period of culture produces an art of its own which can never be
repeated. Efforts to revive the art-principles of the past will
at best produce art that is still born.".
Artists through history face the self-imposed challenge of trying
to be the spiritual teachers of the world. Those who are
successful in communicating this spirituality often get rewarded
by achieving immortality through their works.

Meditation
Nik Helbig
Ever wondered why we are drawn to some pieces of art more so than others? Is it the color? Form? Subject? Or is there something more to that attraction?
Through time, from the realism of the Renaissance to the Impressionist, Symbolist, Cubists, Modernist and the other "isms" of today, the Spirituality in art, has the that effect on us. What we see in a painting that moves us, lies beyond the color, form and subject. The spirit of a painting is actually and abstract entity.

Spiritual vs. Religious
Many well-loved masterpieces had religious themes. These are by
no means more spiritual in nature than the other more secular
works of art. Since spirituality lies deeper than the coats of
paint on the substrate; it manifests itself in any subject or
style.
This website is a personal project in art appreciation. The aim
is to open our eyes so that we may see the spirit behind some of
the famous paintings and perhaps find the spirituality to create
the spiritual paintings of our time.
