The Gothic Style

The Gothic Art style came to being at around 1140 with dramatic changes in architectural styles, stained glass art. There are thousands of Gothic Monuments around today. These are characterized by severely pointed church arches, bearing lots of stained-glass windows held by walls that look like delicate spidery filigree.

This art style existed in England, Germany, France, Italy and throughout Europe; and lasted up till the early 16th century. During this era, a lot of importance was placed on craftsmanship; producing Some wonderfully elegant masterpieces.

The International Gothic Style

Undeniably beautiful works of art were created around 1380-1463 from Bohemia (Czech Republic) to London, France, Italy up through to Sweden. These came lo being because of wealthy patrons like the Duke of Berry, Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Emperors of the time. The International Gothic Style also came to be known as the "Beautiful Style". Religions themes were presented in more true-to-daily-life forms, and the paintings had more figurative and spatial realism. Female figures are sensual, beautiful, wearing Soft flowing garments; the men were cherished faced and elegantly dressed.
